Restaurant Day # 2 Poznań

Restaurant day, if you still don't know what is it, you can check it out here:

So, it's the 2nd time in Poznan I use the idea of restaurant day to cook for people, mainly friends and their friends, just to show Asian food and culture for Polish people. Didn't realize when I started to be so crazy about cooking and food culture, to be honest I'm neither a super master chef nor connoisseur with extraordinary sense of the taste...but, fortunately, to organize such an event you don't need to have these talents...just with a crazy passion and a place to cook or provide your food.

To cook at home, everyone can do it, but to cook for a certain amount of people, you will need to count and control precisely food ingredients, spices, cost, and the most difficult - taste of the food.

Anyone can have a enthusiastic passion but not everyone can treat it as a job and work on it forever. Sometimes, passions will be better to stay as passions. I use the occasion of restaurant day not only to promote Asian food and culture, but also treat it as a practice and experience for myself. If one day I will be involved in culinary management or career, it would be my valuable experience, after all, if not, it's gonna be my life experience and it's definitely, FUN.

This time I decided to hold the event in Tandem pub, where I usually have my Chinese meeting.

The place is cosy and located in the centre, just next to the tram stop Gwarna. The owner Marta is very willing to organize event with foreigners, so basically the pub is very international.

The idea this time is to show the Taiwanese style restaurant similar to "bar mleczny" ( milk bar ) in Poland. Which provides a set of meal including main dish and few side dishes with not so expensive cost.

Randomly I came out of some ideas so the main dishes looked like this:

1) Homemade tofu with sanbei sauce and not only

I made two different kinds of tofu, one from Polish soy and the other mixed with black soy.

Skin of soy - dopi ( in polish "kożuch" )

Dry tofu - dogan, marinated with soy sauce and spices.

2) Tonkatsu (Japanese style schabowy )

And about tonkatsu you can check my friend's blog.

3) Stir fried mutton with green pepper in sauce Sacha

( unfortunately can't see mutton well :D )

4) Marinated pig knuckle with cola

It seemed not so many people were interested in this dish and Polish people don't really eat skin..which is a pity cos in my opinion that's one of the best parts of pig knuckle!!!

5) Chicken leg with ginger and leek sauce ( no photo, recipe zaraz będzie w blogu! )

About side dishes, I prepared some marinated radish, cabbage and stir fried vegetables. In the end I had 50 guests. Kind of busy when many people flowed in at the same hour, but every time I make an event, I gain experiences from the management and organization; from the customers' requirements and needs.

Anyone can have a talent to cook well at home, but not everyone can manage a restaurant; anyone might have enough money to set up a restaurant, but not everyone can reach the expectations of customers.

At last, thank you all for the participation, your supports will always be my motivation ! ! !

See you next time! (and it would be always better) :)

Special thanks to:
