Ethno port festiwal Poznań

Not long ago I just participated in a big public event - Ethno port festiwal in Poznań.

It's a quite big ethnic event in Poznań hold every year, including many different kinds of concerts, workshops, and also culinary culture from different countries. I was invited from my friend Agata, representing Taiwan to cook traditional dishes in sub event - Jam piknik - Kuchnia świata (the world kitchen).

For me,  it was not only to show our culinary culture, but also a challenge. After several times of preparing food for around 50 people, I decided to challenge 80, with simplified menu and the dishes are all very popular Taiwanese street food :

-) Yang chun mien (dry) - Taiwanese noodles with minced meat and some small side dishes

-) Soup "rou gen tang" (with meat)

-) Mi feng - Stir fried rice noodles with vegetables (vegan)

In order to satisfy also vegetarians, I decided to divide stock from the soup and make a vegetarian version of rou gen tang - su gen tang ( based on mushrooms and different vegetables ).

The event was hold in front of the castle Zamek with different food stands. The weather was hot and I was a bit worried about people wouldn't have appetite to eat anything, but fortunately, despite of the strong sunlight, the wind was nice and cool, sometimes even too strong!

Food stands from different countries...

Music played on the grass with nice food served !!!

There were some unexpected difficulties, for example strong wind, weak stove and ofc my lack of experience... :) Anyways, most of the foods were sold and it was just enough to cover my cost and effort for the event. The happiest thing was that few people asked me "where can they eat such food and do I have a restaurant?" That was a great honour, but so far writing a blog to spread the knowledge and culinary culture is already enough for me, maybe in the future when the market and knowledge has reached to a certain point I will open one...however, one of the most important factors...no $$!

About the recipes for soup I will try to write as soon as possible but you can take a look of this one ( they are all in Polish ) :

Zupa kwaśno-pikantna po syczuańsku (wegańska)

And the stir fried rice noodle:

Smażony makaron ryżowy nitki - Chao mi fen

The minced meat served with noodles is similar to this one served with rice so you can use this recipe also, and the way how to prepare the marinated egg I will also write in my blog later.

Mielone z wieprzowiny po tajwańsku z grzybami na ryżu

In the end, thanks to Agata, ethno port Poznań and my two lovely cooking assistants, hope to see you soon !!! ( We love Taiwanese food ! )
